Meniere’s Disease

Meniere’s disease is problem with the inner ear that causes ringing in the ears, loss of hearing and vertigo. As the years go by, most people diagnosed with Meniere’s suffer chronic dizziness, nausea, vomiting, and episodes of losing their balance–even falling. You’ve probably been told that there’s “no cure” for Meniere’s disease.

That may be true. But what is true for certain is that you do not have to suffer with the dizziness, nausea, vomiting and balance problems caused by Meniere’s Disease.

What you don’t know about Meniere’s Disease–and I”m sure none of your doctors have told you–is that Meniere’s is not just an inner ear problem.

In over 90% of cases of Meniere’s Disease, a weak cerebellum is why you still have balance problems, dizziness, vertigo and nausea.

Treatment of the cerebellar dysfunction may include:

Unilateral (one-sided) Adjustments: Extremities (arms and legs), lumbar (low back) and cervical (neck) spine will be manipulated on one side only to fire muscle spindle cells (muscle receptors) and joint mechanoreceptors (joint receptors) into the same cerebellum and opposite cerebra cortex (brain). The thoracic (mid-back) spine will be globally manipulated to fire the dorsal columns (back part of the spinal cord) and reduce rib fixations.

Caloric: A warm water caloric of 180 milliliters may be administered in the ear to stimulate the ipsilateral (same side) cerebellum.

Eye Exercises: Eye exercises may be used to increase the frequency of firing to the cerebellum and frontal lobe of the brain.

Oxygen Therapy: Oxygen is an important part of our approach. Each patient is checked using a pulse oximeter to determine their oxygen levels. Oxygen is fuel for the brain and nervous system and is important for the health and recovery of the cerebellum.
